How a defacto 2010 NCAA Playoff could be done this year

With four undefeated teams going into the Thanksgiving week, it seems likely that 3 of the four, if not all four, will remain undefeated when Bowl bids are made. When Bowl bids come out, rather than having the wailing and gnashing of teeth, would it not seem reasonable to have these four teams play each other in two "semifinal" games in mid December, followed by the winners playing in the Championship game in January?

Many people would rather watch two undefeated teams play one one another in mid-December than two 3rd place teams from two different major conferences. If one needs to move the Orange or Sugar Bowl to mid-December to accomodate this, then "Just do it." For those of you who don't see the irony, Phil Knight, founder of Nike, is an Oregon alum and major Oregon football fan.

The overall ratings and overall  fan satisfaction would be greatly enhanced by making this move this year....

Auburn vs. Boise State
Oregon vs. TCU

Then the winners meet in the Championship game. Very cool.
